allodon: Allodontichthys Polylepis - Orange Darter Goodeid |
|
Allodontichthys Polylepis also known as the Orange Darter Goodeid, can be found in the upper Rio Ameca near Jalisco, Mexico. The Orange Dater is rather small at 1.5 to 2 inches, however that doesnt stop their aggressiveness. The males will defend their territories, so large very well planted tanks should be used...
Feeding is no problem, the Orange Darter will take any kind of food, including flakes, live and DIY Vegetable.
Breeding is very difficult. Broods consist only of a few fry which are then sometimes consumed by the parents. Sadily, Due to the breeding difficulty, there are not alot of sources available for this Critically Endangered Species.
